The Plasma Chemistry Laboratory at CAIS is an analytical geochemistry laboratory specializing in the analysis of trace elements and isotope ratios in biological, environmental, geological, archaeological and other materials. The laboratory provides analytical services to the University System of Georgia researchers, as well as to external academic and industrial customers. The mission of the laboratory is to provide quality analytical data to researchers and to assist in preparing university students for STEM careers.
The laboratory is equipped with three Thermo XSeries II ICP-MS and an Agilent HPLC-ICP-MS for the analysis of major, minor, and trace, rare earth elements and heavy metals. We have a class 100/1000 clean room for processing sensitive samples, and a wet-chemistry lab fitted with a digestion block, a Milestone Ethos microwave, and supplied with ultra-pure water.
