CAIS Graduate Research Assistants who are presenting original research at a regional, national, or international conference are eligible to receive reimbursement of up to $500 for reasonable and allowable travel expenses for one conference trip per academic year (see Statewide Travel Policy for details on reimbursement procedures and documentation requirements and Quick Guide for Travel-Related Expense Types. Please note that Airbnb and similar services are not eligible for reimbursement). GRAs traveling with CAIS support will be excused from their work obligation at CAIS for up to one week for conference travel.
To be eligible for support, the student must: (1) be employed as a CAIS GRA during the semester in which the travel will occur; (2) be the presenting author of either a poster or oral presentation; (3) give a practice presentation to CAIS prior to the proposed departure date, either in-person or virtually; (4) complete the attached travel support application at least one month prior to the proposed departure date, signed by both the student and their direct supervisor at CAIS; and (5) submit an abstract acceptance letter. You may submit a travel support application prior to abstract acceptance; however, travel awards will be considered “pending” until proof of abstract acceptance is received. Submit all travel support applications and acceptance letters to Angela McLendon (awmclen@uga.edu).
