Michael Marshall, Ph.D. joined CAIS in 2013 and has over 20 years of research experience in analytical chemistry, ecosystem ecology, biogeochemistry, nutrient cycling and groundwater hydrology and field experience in New Mexico, Wyoming, Alaska, South Korea, Guyana and Trinidad. Mike earned his MS and Ph.D. in Zoology and Physiology, with an ecological focus, from the University of Wyoming. As the Principle Investigator and Quality Manager of the Natural Products and Biobased Testing Laboratory, Mike oversees daily operation, test reporting, quality assurance and the maintenance of our ISO/IEC 17025: 2017 accreditation for radiocarbon and stable isotope services. Other activities at the Center have included developing and implementing new analytical services such as dissolved nitrogen isotope diffusion and denitrification techniques, confounding compounds removal, extraction of environmental biomarkers, and a variety of nutrient and elemental analyses.
Mike is also a homebrewer, baker, music-lover and -maker.
