Jana Maure Carpenter, a recent college graduate of Young Harris College, gained a deep appreciation of research through the completion of her B.S. in Chemistry. She has been a part of several internships with the National Defense University in Washington D.C. and is active member of the American Chemical Society.  Jana was a Lab Technician in the Radiocarbon Pretreatment Lab at CAIS which involved tailored preparation of each sample before it is graphitized for analysis via AMS. She is interested in exploring the effects of humic acids on sediments and investigating further ways to improve sampling for radiocarbon dating.
