Underwater Munitions Recovery System

Working under contract to Underwater Ordinance Recovery, Inc. (UOR) of Norfolk, Virginia, the CAIS designed, constructed, and field-tested a remotely-operated system for the recovery of unexploded ordinance (UXO) in marine environments. The system has applications in programs of non-destructive underwater remediation and maintenance in order to restore sensitive underwater environments that were previously used as firing ranges. The system can also be applied to maintain and to extend the operational life of existing offshore live firing ranges.
